Overview
Oxfordshire’s 2025 National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA) One Day Trophy campaign fell short of expectations, with just one win from four matches and an early group-stage exit. While the young group showed glimpses of promise, particularly in the dominant win over Devon, results on the field were largely disappointing, as the side struggled to convert high-potential into performance. Despite this, the campaign reaffirmed the potential across the squad and our long-term commitment to developing homegrown players via our pathway.
Squad Selection
The Oxfordshire Men’s squads for the 2025 NCCA One Day Trophy campaign were predominantly composed of players who have progressed through the Oxfordshire Pathway, with a strong representation from clubs within the county. Selection remained largely consistent with an average age ranging from 20.5 to 22.88 years. The squad’s youthful composition lays a strong foundation for future campaigns, with the experience gained crucial.

Looking Ahead
While the final standings did not reflect the ambition or capability, the campaign underlined Oxfordshire’s strategic focus on talent development and challenges of finding balance between building a Men’s squad that can compete in future seasons ahead following the departure of experienced players at the same time as chasing performance outcomes. With more experience and match exposure, this group of players is well positioned to progress in upcoming NCCA competitions.
