Oxfordshire Cricket is proud to announce that fourteen year old, and Boys Under 15 player, Evan Cowley has been selected to represent the South & West Under-15s at the 2025 England and Wales Cricket board (ECB) David English Bunbury Festival.
The ECB Regional Under 15s programme aims to provide the best versus best training and competitive experiences, which enhances development and provides early benchmarking opportunities. Evan has been selected to participate in a 2-day fixture against the Midlands on 21st and 22nd July 2025 and at the ECB Bunbury Festival between 2nd and 8th August 2025. Both events will be hosted at The National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough University.
Evan becomes the latest young player from Oxfordshire to be selected for the Regional Under 15s programme and with the County having a rich history of representatives including Arthur Hanson (2023), Alfie Smethurst (2022), Dylan Driscoll and Kalan Niyarepola (2021), James Coles (2018, 2019), Zach Lion-Cachet (2019), Luke Charlesworth and Gus Miller (2017), Ben Charlesworth (2016), Rory Hipwell, Tom Price, and Harrison Ward (2015), Jordan Garrett and James Palmer (2014), Tom Costley (2012), and both Miles Hammond and Joe Barrett (2011).
Performance Director, Matthew Barnes commented:
“It is always rewarding to announce positive news and we are delighted that Evan has been selected to represent the South & West Under 15s in 2025. Regional selection is a significant achievement, with only around sixty young players from across the country chosen each year to take part in the prestigious ECB David English Bunbury Festival.
Evan’s journey to selection is inspiring as he was not nominated for Phase 1 of the Regional Under 15 nominations process back in February, but for Phase 2 in June following his progression and performances since the 2024 season. Evan seized the opportunity to showcase his talent during the peer-vs-peer match days and has rightly earned his place in the final squad. Evan’s success is a testament to his determination, the support of his family and the cricketing environments around him. On behalf of everyone at Oxfordshire Cricket, we extend our congratulations and wish him every success in the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”
