Sam Arthurs Appointed Foundation Pathway Manager
Oxfordshire Cricket is delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Arthurs to the role of Foundation Pathway Manager.
Sam Arthurs has worked for Oxfordshire Cricket for over five years and will be known by many for his role within our Pathway and for his contribution to other performance and participation programmes. Sam will transition from his current role as Pathway Cricket Coach into the position of Foundation Pathway Manager from Monday 18th October 2021.
In the role of Foundation Pathway Manager, Sam will work closely with the Performance Director to deliver a sustainable and high-performing talent development system and play a leading role in the day-to-day management and delivery of our Foundation Pathway for girls and boys between the ages of 8 and 13.
To support the development journey of players across the foundation age groups, Sam will lead and grow our breadth of supplementary programmes, including the Oxfordshire Bulls, Player Development Workshops and transition programmes and forge an integrated link with the Participation and Growth team, local schools and clubs.
Matthew Barnes, Performance Director said:
“We are delighted to introduce Sam as our newly appointed Foundation Pathway Manager and to welcome him to Oxfordshire Cricket in a full time position.
The creation of the Foundation Pathway Manager role is an exciting progression that will enable us to better support the long-term development of girls and boys aged between 8 and 13, our parents or guardians of those players and the clubs or schools in which they are connected to. The introduction of the role will expand our capability to deliver our talent development programmes across these age groups and, to enable us to pursue the growth of our supplementary programmes that provide a range of players within Oxfordshire access to coaching and additional support.
Sam has contributed to the success of our pathway over several years and he now has the opportunity to make an even greater impact in the position of Foundation Pathway Manager – I wish him every success in the role and look forward to working with him in the future.”
Chris Parkinson, People Director said;
“We had applications from all over the country for this role. Sam was the standout candidate, not only does he bring cricket expertise, but also an innovative approach to how we can develop our younger players. This is an exciting time to be part of Oxfordshire cricket – and Sam will play a key role”
Sam Arthurs, Foundation Pathway Manager said,
“Oxfordshire Cricket has supported me from the very start of my coaching journey, for which I’m extremely grateful. The newly created role provides the perfect opportunity to grow my career in cricket, whilst allowing me to foster enjoyment and support the development of hundreds of young cricketers within the county.
I’m delighted to have been offered the Foundation Pathway Manager role, and am looking forward to exciting times ahead for cricket within Oxfordshire.”

Oxford Indoor League
Following the release of the latest ECB guidelines for indoor activities and confirmation of our booking of the venue we have now scheduled the fixtures to complete both the League and County Finals Day for the outstanding 19/20 season which was so abruptly interrupted by the pandemic.
Therefore, we are now in a position to open up entries for the Oxford Indoor League for Winter 21/22. As previously, the games will take place on a Sunday afternoon between 12-5pm at Bartholomew Sports Centre, Eynsham.
Given the level of interest in previous seasons, subject to the number of entries we are hoping to expand and run 2 divisions each of 8 teams. As a result, entries will close once 16 teams have entered, or on 31 October 2021.
Each division will be a round robin with all teams playing each other once; matches for Division 2 starting on Sunday 21 November through to Sunday 23 January (no fixtures on 19, 26 December & 2 January) and Division 1 starting on Sunday 30 January through to Sunday 20 March – Division 1 is also likely to feature a Finals Day for the top 4 teams with relegation and promotion between the leagues.
With the support of the venue, we have managed to hold the price of entry per club to £250. Please follow the link below to complete your entry:
