Player Development Workshops – February 2022
We are delighted to let you know about the upcoming Player Development Workshops that we are running from the 17th February to 25th February 2022 at both St Edward’s School and Abingdon School.
We listened to your feedback following the Player Development Workshops that we ran during October and December last year and are pleased to be able to extend our offering this February across the two different half term holiday dates. The move to deliver across multiple academic half term weeks will provide greater opportunity for players to access the coaching and additional support the player development workshops offer. A varied programme of workshops that target specific disciplines or themes within the game has been scheduled for both girls and boys.
A select number of the workshops will be repeated in both weeks with the intention that those in the independent sector will attend during the first week on the 17th and 18th February, to then provide greater opportunity for those in the state sector to attend on the 24th and 25th February during the second week. A range of other workshops will be taking place on the days inbetween (21st, 22nd & 23rd February) which are open to Girls and Boys from all sectors.
Workshop Programme
The workshops are specifically designed for Representative, Club or School players who have or currently play hard ball cricket and will be led by the Performance team, alongside other coaches who work across our Pathway or Emerging player programmes. These Workshops will use a hard ball and all players will need the appropriate playing equipment. Each session will be delivered using a 1:4 or 1:5 Coach to Player ratio to provide greater player development opportunities.
Please see below a timetable of programme workshops available this February, along with a booking link for each workshop. We ask that you please book carefully, making sure you choose the correct session for your child’s age. The Age Group eligibility table will help you to select the correct session for your child.

Oxfordshire Cricket and Hartwell PLC Extend Partnership
Oxfordshire Cricket is delighted to announce that we have extended our partnership with Hartwell PLC for a further year up until the end of 2022.
The extension of the partnership will see Hartwell play a larger role in supporting our performance and participation programmes. They will be a key partner in supporting us with our delivery of highlights packages for County Men fixtures that are streamed. The now formerly known Bernard Tollett T20 Trophy will become the Hartwell Oxfordshire Senior Cup which will take place at Wormsley on the 17th of September. We will take the opportunity of tracking down the Tollett family and thank them for the 21 years of support they have provided. The day will now become the Hartwell Awards and Finals day which will encompass the T20 finals day, pathway and grassroots awards.
Established in 1919 in Oxfordshire, Hartwell PLC is a leading automotive group representing Ford cars and commercial vehicles. With eleven locations based across the UK. They assist customers with their motoring needs and have built a reputation for providing exceptional customer service and the highest quality vehicles. It’s this reputation, and the loyalty to their customers, that has seen their centenary in 2019.
In addition to the wide variety of new cars that they offer, they have a comprehensive stock of used vehicles for sale across their network. These include models from a range of franchises, and which can suit a variety of needs. Whether you’re looking for your very first car at an affordable price, or need to upgrade your existing vehicle to accommodate your growing family, they can help.
As part of the partnership, Hartwell PLC will attend a range of events throughout the year where you will be able to see some of their vehicles on display and speak to members of their staff. Players, clubs, officials, families and the wider cricket community will be able to use or reference Oxfordshire Cricket when they speak to anyone at Hartwell which will enable them to access any offers or discounts that are available. Another benefit of the newly announced partnership is it enables Oxfordshire Cricket to continue developing the sport throughout the county, whether it’s projects in the local community, supporting clubs or continuing to produce elite-level cricketers.
Nick Pinhol, Participation Manager at Oxfordshire Cricket said:
“We are delighted to be continuing our relationship with Hartwell PLC for the 2022 season which will see them be a key partner with Oxfordshire Cricket. Their reputation for providing exceptional customer service and the highest quality vehicles is impressive, especially given their connection to the Oxfordshire community. We are delighted that Hartwell PLC will be continuing to work with us, and we look forward to working with them”.

Moreton Win Women’s Indoor League
Congratulations to Moreton Cricket Club on winning this year’s Women’s Indoor League.
Moreton secured the 2021/22 indoor league undefeated having won all their games. They used 13 different players over the 6 matches and crucially were never a player short (well done their Manager !). On average they lost only 2 wickets per game over their 6 matches, scored the most amount of 6s. Lucy Johnson picked up an impressive hattrick in the final game v Thame (all bowled). They also posted the highest net score of 190 v Oxenford on the 27th Nov.
The tournament saw 7 teams enter, Moreton, Banbury, Thame, Eynsham, Oxenford, Horspath and a mix of Charlbury, West Ilsley and Oxford made up an All-Stars Team.
Moreton won the title with a 100% record but it went down to the last weekend to confirm it as Banbury were chasing them down and still had an outside chance of the title. It wasn’t to be and Moreton proved too strong overall, Banbury having to settle for runners up, having lost one game all tournament, to the champions.
All-Stars sneaked into 3rd courtesy of better runs and wickets average. Jess Warren put in a particularly outstanding display in-game week 5 when she took a 5 wicket haul in her two overs.
Thame finished in 4th and level on points with All-Stars but a heavy defeat to Moreton on the final day saw their runs and wickets average take a tumble.
The final three places were occupied by Horspath, Eynsham and Oxenford. While Oxenford finished bottom, they introduced some new players to the game and they did take plenty of wickets, but found runs hard to come by. It was good to see the progress over the course of the season.
In October we will look to launch another indoor league and will hopefully gain more entries so we can split into two divisions. If you want to register your interest for the next season of the Women’s Indoor League then please email [email protected]
A special thank you to all the teams that took part in this years league, and we hope to see you all take part next winter.
