GCR Published
Oxfordshire Cricket is today (22nd of April) publishing its General Conduct Regulations (GCR) ahead of the upcoming season.
For the 2022 season, Oxfordshire Cricket is adopting the ECB’s General Conduct Regulations and Anti Discrimination Code which are applicable to County Cricket Boards
At Oxfordshire, we are keen to set high standards for our own competitions (youth and senior) and to ensure that there is consistency with the equivalent ECB and NCCA implementations of the regulations.
The purpose of the General Conduct Regulations (the “Regulations”) is therefore to set consistent standards of conduct and behaviour and provide a single set of regulations that can be applied consistently to ensure that disciplinary matters are dealt with in a fair, efficient and consistent manner by cricket organisations. The Regulations also contain sanction guidelines, which will ensure there is more consistency across recreational cricket.

THE ACE PROGRAMME CHARITY seeks to engage and support young people of African and Caribbean Heritage, and to identify diverse talent from the grassroots to the elite. This session will be followed by participants from our Disability hubs taking part in ‘skills and drills’, run by our Head of Disability Cricket – Richard Giles, with support from the recently qualified George Hilley and Damon Colley. Commenting on the announcement of the partnership, Chris Clements, Chairman at Oxfordshire Cricket said:
“Over the last [5] years, we have enjoyed the opportunity of holding our Club Finals day and Youth Pathway Awards at the iconic Wormsley ground. Over that time, we have developed strong links with the team at Wormsley and share a common aim to promote a wide spectrum of Cricket. We are delighted that we now have the opportunity through this wider partnership to host more cricket at what is widely recognised as “one of the most beautiful grounds in the world”. We have a strong focus on community outreach and maximising the levelling up of opportunities for all cricketers in Oxfordshire and we are delighted that Wormsley Cricket is providing us with the perfect platform to achieve this. Oxfordshire Cricket would like to record its thanks to the Beard Charitable Foundation and Hartwell Plc for their support of this partnership with Wormsley.
Commenting on the announcement of the partnership, Alistair Cane, Head of Cricket Development at Wormsley said:
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to work more closely with, and to support, Oxfordshire Cricket. In this our 30th year of cricket at Wormsley, we are as much focused on the future as we are on remembering the past. Sir Paul Getty believed that Cricket was for everyone, not just the elite players. Wormsley Cricket is focused not only on protecting Sir Paul’s legacy to the game, but guided by our fundamental principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, we are delighted to support leading Cricket organisations and charities to help young and disadvantaged players to find their way in life and the game in particular. Combined with the fact that Wormsley has established a world-wide reputation as “one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world”, it makes for the perfect venue for showcase matches and events. The best way to watch cricket at Wormsley this season is through our Membership programme, that allows our most loyal friends to enjoy a wide variety of cricket, including access to private games, Charity matches, Oxfordshire Cricket days and ticketed days such as the National Counties Finals. Details can be found at: https://wormsley.com/cricket/membership/.”

Falcons Programme Launched
Oxfordshire Cricket is delighted to announce the commencement of a brand new programme of support for State School girls within our Pathway – The Oxfordshire Falcons.
Programme Summary
The Oxfordshire Falcons is a targeted programme that provides support for State School Girls who may not receive the same level of support as their peers within the independent sector. The newly formed programme will aim to bridge the opportunity gap between independent and state school environments, specifically for our Girls Pathway.
The Oxfordshire Falcons programme prioritises specific age groups where the gap between state and independent school cricket offering is most prevalent, and we deliver greater activity at these age groups across the winter and summer, whilst still offering something for those age groups at the start of their journey through our Pathway (Girls Under 11).
The additional player development opportunities will provide an environment for players to develop their talent over time, with the support of pathway coaches and fellow peers. Our ambition is to provide regular (weekly/fortnightly) coaching sessions at selected time-points to augment our Pathway programme, as well as additional playing opportunities during the summer.
Oxfordshire Falcons 2022
This year’s Oxfordshire Falcons programme included a 9 hour Training Camp, held over the 11th, 12th and 13th of April 2022, which will now be followed by a small number of fixtures across the summer months.
To increase the accessibility of the programme, and to help remove cost as a barrier for talent inclusion, we heavily subsidised the cost of the Training Camp and have committed to making the fixture programme during the summer of 2022 free of charge to all of those involved.
We are very thankful to St Helen and St Katharine School who hosted the Falcons Training Camp this Easter, as well as hosting us for fixtures in the Summer.
