Falcons Programme Launched
Oxfordshire Cricket is delighted to announce the commencement of a brand new programme of support for State School girls within our Pathway – The Oxfordshire Falcons.
Programme Summary
The Oxfordshire Falcons is a targeted programme that provides support for State School Girls who may not receive the same level of support as their peers within the independent sector. The newly formed programme will aim to bridge the opportunity gap between independent and state school environments, specifically for our Girls Pathway.
The Oxfordshire Falcons programme prioritises specific age groups where the gap between state and independent school cricket offering is most prevalent, and we deliver greater activity at these age groups across the winter and summer, whilst still offering something for those age groups at the start of their journey through our Pathway (Girls Under 11).
The additional player development opportunities will provide an environment for players to develop their talent over time, with the support of pathway coaches and fellow peers. Our ambition is to provide regular (weekly/fortnightly) coaching sessions at selected time-points to augment our Pathway programme, as well as additional playing opportunities during the summer.
Oxfordshire Falcons 2022
This year’s Oxfordshire Falcons programme included a 9 hour Training Camp, held over the 11th, 12th and 13th of April 2022, which will now be followed by a small number of fixtures across the summer months.
To increase the accessibility of the programme, and to help remove cost as a barrier for talent inclusion, we heavily subsidised the cost of the Training Camp and have committed to making the fixture programme during the summer of 2022 free of charge to all of those involved.
We are very thankful to St Helen and St Katharine School who hosted the Falcons Training Camp this Easter, as well as hosting us for fixtures in the Summer.

We are delighted to let you know about the upcoming Player Development Workshops that we are running from the 19th April to the 22nd April at The Oxford Academy.
We have scheduled a varied programme of workshops for players that target specific disciplines or themes within the game. All sessions are available for both Boys and Girls. Please see below for a timetable of the events, along with the booking links for each. We ask that you please book carefully, making sure you choose the correct session for your child’s age. The Age Group eligibility table will help you to select the correct session for your child.
Workshop Programme
This Easter’s workshop content has been designed considering the current time point, in relation to the outdoor season. Because of this, you will find below an explanation of what will be delivered in each workshop. Every workshop is delivered by our Pathway Coaches at a 1:4 Coach:Player ratio, with the exception of the 100 ball competition.
100 Ball Competition – this 3 hour workshop will allow players the opportunity to play three 100 ball games in an indoor environment. Each game will be played as, a maximum of, 9 a-side to promote involvement. Rules will also be adapted to fit the indoor environment and allow players equal opportunities to bat and bowl.
The Keepers – with Nick Wilton – we are very excited to offer all Wicket-Keepers the opportunity to be coached by Nick Wilton, former first-class cricketer who now works with both Sussex Academy and the Oxfordshire and Sussex Emerging Players Programme; as well being a private coach to professional keepers.
Nick will be leading 2 hour specialist wicket-keeping sessions, which will be accessible to a wide range of age-groups.
The All-Rounders – these 2 hour workshops will provide players the opportunity to develop batting, as well as one of; spin bowling, seam bowling or fielding. The workshop will be designed to allow for individual specialist skill development in both disciplines, as well as an element of game representative competition.
The Batters – our batting workshops offer players the opportunity to practice the fundamentals of the game in a supportive and challenging environment, with the use of bowling machines and representative practice.
