Oxfordshire Cricket is pleased to announce the 11-man squad selected to play Herefordshire on Sunday 10th of July in the second NCCA 3-day Championship of the season at Thame Town CC. Oxon will be looking to build on last week’s win over Cheshire as they seek to defend last year’s Championship title.

This week saw the opening round of Pool fixtures in the U19 League.

Pool 1:

Shipton Under Wychwood beat Charlbury by 6 runs with Dee Jarvis 63; Max Bolam 42no; J Watson 38no and Abi Norgrove 2-26. Benjamin Sinton 94no; David Jenkins 29 and George Westbury 2-27 for Charlbury.

Horley beat Great & Little Tew by 10 runs.

Week 3 Roundup – Hartwell & Wilf Bennett T20 Competitions

This week saw the third round of Pool fixtures in the competitions with Wormsley Finals Day now within reach for a number of clubs.

The Hartwell Trophy results were:

Pool 1

– Oxford beat Cropredy by 8 wickets with Muhammad Ayub 36no; Harvey Jupp 3-16; Arthur Baldock 2-10 and Dylan Swanepoel 1-1 from 3 overs. Sam Coggins 28 and Edward Somerton 2-29 for Cropredy.

– Banbury beat Bicester & North Oxford by 28 runs with Charlie Hill 66; Dave Eaton 44 & 1-19; Charlie Haselgrove 2-15 and Joe Thomas 2-26. Ryan Moore 41no; Daniel Clark 2-19 and Dan Savin 2-21 for BNOCC.

Hartwell Pool 1

– Horspath beat Oxford Downs by 65 runs.

ELLIOT Ruff hammered an imperious half-century as Horspath took a giant step towards Oxfordshire T20 Finals Day with an emphatic 65-run victory over Oxford Downs in the Hartwell Senior Cup at the Recreation Ground.

Horspath have now won all three of their Pool 2 matches to strengthen their grip at the top with a trip to Challow & Childrey on July 19 completing their group games.
Ruff smashed 58 off just 31 balls with 12 fours and a six to set Horspath on the way to 168-6 after they chose to bat. Fellow opener Jimmy Phillips weighed in with 42, while Henry Welch took 4-33.
Downs were then restricted to 103-9 with left-arm spinner Lloyd Belcher (4-7) ripping through the lower order.
Scores: Horspath 168-6 (E Ruff 58, J Phillips 42, H Welch 4-33), Oxford Downs 103-9 (L Belcher 4-7).

– Langford beat Faringdon & District by 169 runs with Aaron Court 63; James West 40; Tom Jones 29 & 4-1 and Jeremy Kirby 28.

– Shipton Under Wychwood beat Witney Swifts by 5 wickets with Charlie Miller 51; Jamie Nelson 31no; Iwan Roberts 4-30 and Shaun Miller 2-17. Ryan Lewis 34; Craig Wood 24 and the 5 wickets were shared between the Swifts bowlers.

Tiddington are crowned U13 Ron Maudsley County Champions

Didcot CC kindly hosted the Ron Maudsley U13 Finals Day on Sunday 3 July.

The competition looked wide open with Tiddington CC hoping to retain the Trophy.

In the first Semi-Final Tiddington beat Kidmore End by 2 runs.

Tiddington won the toss and elected to bat. The score looked about par after being bowled out for 102 in 19.4 overs with Ciaran Lewis 32no and Jago Sidgwick 24. Aryan Vynatheya taking 2-8 in 4 overs and Zac Neo 2-16 for Kidmore End.

In reply, Kidmore End fell 2 runs short for the loss of 8 wickets in a very tight contest with Shaurya Sharma 22 and Harry Mallard 18. 3 wickets for Ciaran Lewis for Tiddington.

In the second Semi-Final Henley beat Challow & Childrey 8 wickets.

Challow & Childrey won the toss and elected to bat scoring 52 for 7 off their 20 overs with Barnaby Cale 10 and Ryan Geekie 9. Atharv Gupta taking 4 for 12 in 4 overs for Henley.

In reply, Henley scored the winning runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the 10th over with Joe Barratt 34no. Alfie Roche and Kieran Morbey taking a wicket apiece for Challow.

In the Third / Fourth Place Play Off Kidmore End beat Challow & Childrey by 18 runs.

Challow & Childrey won the toss and elected to field. Kidmore End scored 98 off their 20 overs with Aryan Vynatheya 32 and Archie Nassau-Lake 15. Alfie Roche 3-15; Arthur Maunder 2-22 and Ryan Geekie 2-10 for Challow.

In reply, Challow scored 80 for 9 in their 20 overs with Alfie Roche 18 and Arthur Maunder 17. Aryan Vynatheya taking 4-7 in 4 overs and Jamie Fenwicke-Clennell 2-14 for Kidmore.

In the Final Tiddington beat Henley by 13 runs to be crowned U13 Ron Maudsley County Champions.

Tiddington batted first scoring 115 for 9 off their 20 overs with Alfie Wilson 33ret and Henry Saunders 22. 3 wickets for Olly Offwood for Henley.

In reply, Henley were bowled out for 102 in 16.4 overs with Harry 21; Rory 16 and Lily 10 recovering from 40 for 6. 3 wickets for Alfie Wilson and 2 for Zac for Tiddington.

Chris Mitty from the Oxfordshire Cricket Board of Directors conducted the presentation thanking Didcot CC for hosting the day, the scorers, coaches, parents and finally Nick Wilks, Isaac Hall, Steve Hyatt and Duncan Fendom for officiating the day.

Finally, Chris handed out the medals to both teams and the U13 Ron Mausdley Cup to Tiddington’s captain.

Good luck to Tiddington CC on Sunday 17th July; hosting the winners of the first round tie of Hampstead CC (Middlesex) v Esher Griffins CC (Surrey) in the National Vitality U13 Club T20.

Aston Rowant U15 Lose a Close Game To Ealing in Regional Round

Aston Rowant U15s who won the County Finals Day a couple of weeks ago travelled to Ealing CC on Sunday for the first-round tie in the National Vitality U15 Club T20.

Ealing CC won the toss and elected to bat scoring 143 for 8 off their 20 overs with Ealing’s captain Absar Muhammad scoring 50ret with an impressive Strike Rate (SR) of 143 ably supported by Zuhayr Khan scoring 36 at SR of 92 in an opening partnership of 84. Charlie Basden picked up 2 for 26 for Aston; impressive economic bowling spells for Oliver Veal with 1-13 off 4 overs and opening bowler Jacob Eaton 1-16 off 4 overs.

In response, a good opening stand of 63 with Conor Rogan scoring 41 at SR of 93; a subsequent quickfire 17 by captain Jack Veal at SR of 243, however, with some impressive bowling from Ealing it was always going to be a challenge to reach the target. Aston finished on 120 for 5 after 20 overs losing by 23 runs. 2wickets apiece for Ealing bowlers Noah Lovell and Syed Naqui.

Good luck to Ealing CC in their second round tie against Beaconsfield CC and congratulations to Aston Rowant CC for their successes this season.

With the U15 League and school exams coming to an end; our competitive U19 League is due to start on Monday 4 July.

This season we have two Pools each of 8 teams playing each other once; the top 2 teams in each pool progress to Finals Day at Horspath CC on Sunday 11th September.

U13 Ron Maudsley Finals Day at Didcot CC on Sunday 3rd July

Following Challow & Childrey’s last ball thriller win over Aston Rowant in their Quarter Final, we now know the full line up for Finals Day at Didcot CC this coming Sunday:

– Semi-Final 1 – Pitch 1 – Kidmore End CC v Tiddington CC

– Semi-Final 2 – Pitch 2 – Henley CC v Challow & Childrey CC

Timings for Finals Day are:

– Gates Open at 9.30am

– Both Semi-Finals start at 10.30am

– Interval approx. 1.30 to 2.30pm

– Final and Third/Fourth Place Playoff start at 2.30pm

– Presentation approx. 5.30pm

Our County winners will then compete in the ECB National Stage – Round 2: Sunday 17 July – to host the winners of Middlesex v Surrey Round 1 Tie.

Aston Rowant is Crowned U15 Champions

Bicester & North Oxford CC kindly hosted the county U15 Finals Day on Sunday 26 June.

With 3 of the clubs unbeaten in the respective pools the competition was wide open.

In the first Semi-Final Aston Rowant beat Oxford Downs by 7 wickets.

Oxford Downs batted first scoring 105 for 7 off their 20 overs with T Dawson 33; H Welch 28 and Finley Little taking 2-14 for Aston Rowant.

In reply, Aston Rowant reached their target for the loss of 3 wickets in the 18th over with Oliver Veal 52ret and A List taking 2-24 for Downs.

In the second Semi-Final Challow & Childrey beat Cropredy CC by 32 runs.

Challow & Childrey batted first scoring 125 for 5 off their 20 overs with George Beard 46; Daniel Westmoreland 27no and George Jackson taking 3-24 for Cropredy.

In reply, Cropredy fell short of their target being all out for 93 in the 18th over with Junior Denny 21; Henry Maunder taking 3-5 and Daniel Westmoreland 2-4 for Challow.

In the Third / Fourth Place Play Off Cropredy beat Oxford Downs.

In the Final Aston Rowant beat Challow & Childrey by 6 wickets to be crowned U15 County Champions.

Challow batted first scoring 104 for 8 in their 20 overs with Murray Gray 28; George Beard 23 and Thomas Healey taking 2-17 for Aston Rowant.

In reply, despite a late wobble Aston Rowant reached their target for the loss of 4 wickets in the 19th over with Oliver Veal 51ret; Conor Rogan 30 and Woody Morgan taking 3-16 for Challow.

Chris Mitty from the Oxfordshire Cricket Board of Directors conducted the presentation thanking Bicester Sports Association & Bicester & North Oxford CC for hosting the day, Graham Savin for preparing the ground, the scorers, coaches; parents and finally James Bartrip, Alex Dellar, John Brown and Nick Wilks for officiating the day.

Finally, Chris handed out the medals to both teams and the U15 ECB County Cup to Aston Rowant’s captain Jack Veal.

– Cumnor beat Bicester & North Oxford by 81 runs with Harry Ackland 58; Sulaiman Hussain 56 & 1-6; Sam Cross 41no and Sam Down 4-18. Zian Stoop 58 for BNOCC.

Pool 2

– Tiddington beat Challow & Childrey by 10 runs with Will Cooper 26; Bradley Rose 2-14 and Jordon Davis 2-23. Ryan Gordon 42 & 3-24 for Challow.

– Horspath beat Aston Rowant by 6 wickets.

HORSPATH made it two wins out of two in Hartwell Senior Cup Pool 2 with a scintillating six-wicket victory at Aston Rowant.
Will Hawtin (29no) completed victory by cracking Hayden Rossouw’s second delivery in the final over through point to take the visitors to 157-4 with four balls to spare.
Elliot Ruff (44) had led Horspath’s run chase, supported by Imraan Manack (26) in a third-wicket stand of 61.
Earlier, Leo Bethell (43no) and Tristan Rossouw (39no) shared an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 81 to take Rowant to their final total after Will Hammersley made 37.
Scores: Aston Rowant 156-4 (20ovs, L Bethell 43no, T Rossouw 39no, W Hammersley 37), Horspath 157-4 (19.2ovs, E Ruff 44).
