With the U15 League and school exams coming to an end; our competitive U19 League is due to start on Monday 4 July.

This season we have two Pools each of 8 teams playing each other once; the top 2 teams in each pool progress to Finals Day at Horspath CC on Sunday 11th September.

Week 1 Roundup – Hartwell & Wilf Bennett T20 Competitions

Fabulous weather on Tuesday evening saw the first set of games in both the Hartwell and Wilf Bennett Competitions under the new two tier format.

The Hartwell Trophy results were:

Pool 1

– Banbury beat Cropredy by 6 wickets

– Oxford beat Cumnor by 9 wickets

Pool 2

– Horspath beat Tiddington by 4 wickets

HORSPATH opened their Pool 2 campaign by claiming a four-wicket win at home to Tiddington in a last-over thriller.

Having restricted Tiddington to 129-8 after the visitors had chosen to bat, the game was in the balance with the home side 111-5 with two overs remaining.
Opener Jimmy Phillips, with 47 off 41 balls, had laid the foundations for the run chase, before teenager Christopher Hofen stepped up to the plate with an unbeaten 25 from 18 deliveries to snatch victory.
Twelve runs came off the penultimate over, with seven following off the first five deliveries of the last over, as Horspath edged home at 130-6 with a ball to spare.
Earlier, Will Goodman top-scored in Tiddington’s innings with 38 from 46 balls.
Scores: Tiddington 129-8 (20ovs, W Goodman 38), Horspath 130-6 (19.5ovs, J Phillips 47).

– Oxford Downs beat Aston Rowant by 5 wickets

Talent Search 22/23

Our Pathway is an accessible and structured talent development programme that provides a developmental journey for girls and boys between the ages of 8 and 18. The Pathway is underpinned by a player identification and recruitment system that assists our search for talent and the transition of players into the Pathway from Clubs, Schools and the wider community within Oxfordshire. More detailed information about our Pathway can be found HERE on our website.

We ensure that our Pathway remains easily accessible and inclusive for both Girls and Boys and open to receiving player recommendations from Clubs, Schools and the wider community via a nomination process. Our nomination process for this year is NOW OPEN and we invite you to nominate your players. We are seeking the nomination of talented, high potential players who have demonstrated above average performance levels relative to their peers with the capacity to perform at a more advanced stage of development and level of competition within our pathway.

Player nominations should be submitted by a Club, School, Coach or Official and we ask that you please note the following information before nominating a player;

- Players who participated in the Pathway from Phase 3 onwards in 2021-2022 will automatically be invited to Phase 2 of the forthcoming year. Please click HERE for a summary of all the players that will be automatically invited – they will not need to be renominated.
- Players who were deselected from the Pathway at either Phase 1 or Phase 2 in 2021-2022 will need to be nominated.

Players that are new to the performance system, have moved into the county, opted to exit the pathway this year, or have progressed since their prior involvement within the pathway require nomination.

To qualify for Oxfordshire a player must ordinarily either have been born in Oxfordshire, live in Oxfordshire, play club cricket in Oxfordshire, go to school in Oxfordshire or have represented Oxfordshire at County Age Group level the previous programme year.

Nominated Girls must be born between 01/09/2004 and 31/08/2014 and nominated Boys between 01/09/2004 and 31/08/2014.

Please submit one response for each player you are nominating using the online form provided. All nominations MUST be received by Sunday 31st July 2022. U15 League Coming to Exciting Conclusion

With the earlier than usual National Rounds of the ECB Competition and our County Finals Day at Bicester & North Oxford CC on Sunday 26 June; the final round of the U15 pool fixtures were scheduled to complete by Friday 17 June.

There have been some extremely close pools and lots of competitive cricket played – the current position of the pools is:

Following 3 wins in the last week, including victories over Banbury and Middleton Cheney; Cropredy have topped the pool.

U13 Ron Maudsley Cup – Roundup 17th June

Following Quarter Final matches this week, the Ron Maudsley U13 Finals Day to be played at Didcot CC on Sunday 3rd July is starting to take shape.

The Quarter Final results so far are:

– Kidmore End beat Witney Mills by 24 runs scoring 126 for 7 off their 20 overs with Witney falling slightly short on 102 for 8.

– Tiddington beat Langford in a very close contest in the final over by 6 wickets.

Langford set 142 for 4 off their 20 overs with Freddie Webb 32ret; Harry Fillary 34ret and Stanley Harris 18. Ciaran Lewis picked up 2 for 22 off his 4 overs.

In reply, Tiddington reached their total in 19.2 overs with Sam Allen 30ret; Henry Saunders 21ret and Ciaran Lewis 24no.

The outstanding Quarter Finals are:

The coming week sees the opening fixtures of the Oxfordshire Senior T20 Cups under the new two tier format.

Banbury CC are defending the Hartwell Trophy (previously Bernard Tollett), whilst we will definitely see new winners of the Wilf Bennett Cup with the previous winners, Oxford CC, competing for the Hartwell Trophy this season.

Updated Ticket Information – Oxfordshire v Sussex at Wormsley

We were delighted to announce a few weeks ago that we would welcome our first-class partner Sussex County Cricket Club on the 31st of July for the annual showcase fixture against a first-class county. The match will take place at the magnificent Wormsley Estate.

There has been a great level of interest in this match, and we can confirm that there is now only a limited amount of tickets left

Entry to the match will be free to all, however, there will be a parking charge. A £5 ticket enables you to park one car at Wormsley, entry is free to all. Refreshments will be available to spectators.

VIP dining is also available and this will include the cost of parking. The VIP Dining tickets include tea /coffee on arrival, a 2-course meal between innings at approximately 2.30pm and a light late afternoon. The ticket also includes free parking and a half bottle of wine per person. We will be joined by John Filby (Sussex Chair), Rob Andrew (Sussex CEO), and Keith Greenfield (Sussex director of cricket) and Mark Beard (High Sheriff of Oxfordshire). All proceeds from this event will go towards Oxfordshire’s State Secondary School fund.
