Oxfordshire Cricket is pleased to announce an upcoming Foundation 1 and Core Coach (Level 2) course for the 2022 winter. More information about courses that will be held in 2023 will be released in due course.

Foundation 1 Course
The ECB Foundation I Coach is a blend of e-learning and face-to-face modules led by ECB Coach Developers will explore what coaching looks like, the impact you can have as an ECB Foundation I Coach, the skills you can help players to develop and how you can learn from your experiences. By committing yourself to this programme and becoming a qualified coach you will become an important part of the ECB’s coaching family that works together to help players improve, have fun, be safe and learn at every stage of their development.

Who is it for?
Anyone aged 17 and over wishing to become qualified to coach cricket, inspire players and make a difference to the game.

- 4 face-to-face modules lasting 3 hours each including 3 observed coaching opportunities
- 7 bitesize e-learning modules lasting 10-15 minutes each
- Multiple choice question assessment
Pre-requisites for certification
- Valid safeguarding training e.g. Safeguarding Young Cricketers
- Valid ECB DBS.

Core Coach Course
The ECB Core Coach programme is an entry level qualification for coaching cricket in England and Wales alongside ECB Foundation I Coach. The programme is a blend of e-learning and face-to-face modules led by ECB Coach Developers will explore the player-centred planning process, player development, the skills you can help players to develop and how you can learn from your experiences. By committing yourself to this programme and becoming a qualified coach you will become an important part of the ECB’s coaching family that works together to help players improve, have fun, be safe and learn at every stage of their development.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
This programme has been designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead player-centred coaching sessions.
An ECB Core Coach will be qualified to lead coaching sessions independently and without supervision.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Experience of playing or coaching cricket is desirable but not essential when applying for this programme.

- Eight face-to-face modules lasting three hours each, including two observed coaching opportunities
- Six bitesize e-learning modules lasting 15-20 minutes each
- Multiple choice question assessment

PRE-REQUISITES FOR CERTIFICATION

- Valid safeguarding training e.g. Safeguarding Young Cricketers
- Valid ECB DBS.

U13 Gauntlet Goblet Reaches Semi-Finals Stage

Witney Mills Crowned U13 League Champions
Charlbury CC kindly hosted the U13 League Finals Day on Sunday 17 July in stunning weather.
In the first Semi-Final Witney Mills beat Kidmore End by 4 wickets.
Kidmore End batted first scoring 121-7 in their 20 overs with Aarah V 30ret and Josh F 29ret. Owen Morgan taking 4-15 and Theo Wright 2-13 for Mills.
In reply, a well paced innings from Mills saw them scoring 122 for the loss of 6 wickets after 18.2 overs with Theo Wright 31ret and Sam Jackson 33ret. Aadit taking 2-18 for Kidmore End.
In the second Semi-Final Banbury beat Abingdon Vale by 42 runs.
Banbury batted first scoring 125-6 off their 20 overs with Thomas Hodge 30ret and Will Rorich 16no.
In reply, Abingdon were bowled out in the 16th over for 83 with Henry Golding 31ret. Will Rorich taking 4 wickets for Banbury.
In the Third / Fourth Place Play Off Abingdon Vale beat Kidmore End by 47 runs.
Abingdon Vale batted first scoring 120 all out in 19.5 overs with Henry Golding 23 and B Smith 17no. For Kidmore End, Aadit taking 2-25; J Finch 2-15; Zac 2-7 and Sunny 3-14.
In reply, Kidmore End fell short of the required target being bowled out for 73 in 14 overs with Nanden 19; Sunny 12 and J Finch 11. H Fitter taking 3-7 for Abingdon.
In the Final Witney Mills beat Banbury by 9 wickets to be crowned U13 League County Champions.
Banbury batted first being bowled out for 47 in the 13th over with A Thomas 14. 2 wickets apiece for S McFadden; Matthew Tilley and Theo Wright for Mills.
In reply, Mills comfortably reached their target in the 10th over for the loss of 1 wicket with Owen Morgan 29no.
Chris Mitty from the Oxfordshire Cricket Board of Directors conducted the presentation thanking Charlbury CC for hosting the day, the scorers, coaches, parents and finally David Hall, Isaac Hall, Paul Taylor and Alex Dellar for officiating the day.
Finally, Chris handed out the medals to both teams and the U13 League Cup to Witney Mills captain.
This was the first youth trophy for Witney Mills CC who only started a junior section 6 years ago after a gap of around 20 years.
Both teams in the Final were entirely made up of state school-educated primary children; a great achievement from both clubs offering excellent playing opportunities and coaching.
