Oxfordshire Cricket has officially launched its 2025–2028 Strategic Plan at the prestigious St Edward’s School, marking a major milestone in shaping the future of cricket across the county. The event was brought to life via video by BBC Test Match Special broadcaster Henry Moeran, who guided guests through the strategy’s vision, priorities, and human impact.
The new strategy sets out a bold commitment: to make cricket open for all. Rooted in inclusivity, community engagement, and long-term sustainability, the plan outlines how Oxfordshire Cricket will grow participation, strengthen pathways, and ensure cricket thrives for generations to come.
As outlined in the strategy, Oxfordshire Cricket’s purpose is clear: “To make cricket open for ALL.”
Underpinned by core values—including Growing Trust, Creating Belonging, and Being Accountable—the organisation aims to ensure cricket is accessible, welcoming, and representative of Oxfordshire’s diverse communities.
Peter Tervet, Chair of Oxfordshire Cricket, said:

It provides a clear roadmap for how we will grow participation, nurture talent, and create environments where everyone feels welcome and empowered. With the support of our clubs, volunteers, schools, and partners, we now have the opportunity to turn ambition into real, lasting impact.”
The plan is built around four major pillars:
- Engage & Inspire – Expanding participation across schools, clubs, and communities, with a focus on state-school hubs, disability cricket, and reducing barriers.
- Accelerate Women & Girls – Increasing opportunities, visibility, and leadership representation, and expanding girls’ competitions and club offerings.
- Empower – Supporting the development of players, coaches, volunteers, and leaders, including growth of the Future Leaders Academy.
- Build a Sustainable Future – Strengthening governance, enhancing facilities, growing the volunteer network, and creating environmentally and financially sustainable structures.
Oxfordshire Cricket has set ambitious targets across all pillars, including:
- 35,000+ children engaged through school and community programmes
- 100% of junior sections offering a girls’ cricket pathway
- 20% growth in junior participation
- 250 trained female Future Leaders
- 150 new female coaches
- 30% increase in volunteers
- Develop 3 Academy players (boys and girls) and 1 rookie professional within the strategic cycle
- Investment secured to improve cricket facilities across the county
A new monitoring and reporting system, will ensure transparency, accountability, and regular review throughout the strategy’s lifespan.
A key announcement at the launch was the establishment of the Oxfordshire Youth Board, ensuring young people have a direct voice in decision-making, programme design, and shaping the future of cricket across the county
The launch at St Edward’s School brought together clubs, schools, partners, volunteers, and young people, and key stakeholders uniting the county behind a shared ambition. With a clear roadmap, robust values, strong leadership, and the voices of young people at its core, the 2025–2028 Strategy signals Oxfordshire Cricket’s commitment to leading the game forward with purpose, inclusivity, and long-term vision.
