Wolvercote Cricket Club Win U15 League Final

A festival of cricket featuring the brightest young talents from Banbury CC, Cumnor CC, Wolvercote CC, and Goring on Thames CC. The day was packed with big scores, individual brilliance, and outstanding sportsmanship.
Semi-Final 1: Wolvercote CC vs Goring on Thames CC
Result: Wolvercote CC won by 72 runs
Wolvercote CC set the bar high with a dominant display in the first semi-final.
Wolvercote CC Innings – 220/2 (20 overs)
- Evan Cowley played a magnificent innings, scoring the only century of the day with 104 off 62 balls.
- Hugo Du Plessis supported brilliantly with a fluent 50 off 29, the duo putting on a 105-run opening stand.
Goring on Thames CC Innings – 148/8 (20 overs)
- George Logan led the resistance with a gritty 42 off 34 balls.
- Wolvercote’s bowlers applied consistent pressure, with Billy Vallings leading the attack, taking 4/30.
Semi-Final 2: Banbury CC vs Cumnor CC
Result: Banbury CC won by 139 runs
Banbury CC turned in an explosive performance with both bat and ball.
Banbury CC Innings – 227/6 (20 overs)
- Toby Brock starred with the bat, blasting 82 off 47 balls in a dominant display.
- Sam Bridge added a solid 42 off 31, while Ollie Cronin lit up the final overs with a powerful 33 off just 12 balls.
Cumnor CC Innings – 88 all out (12 overs)
- Cumnor were undone by an inspired bowling spell from Ollie Cronin, who took 5/14, including a sensational four wickets in four balls!
- Charlie Spicer showed resistance with 39 off 26, but lacked support at the other end.
Final: Wolvercote CC vs Banbury CC
Result: Wolvercote CC won by 7 wickets
The final brought together the two standout teams of the day — and Wolvercote delivered a clinical run chase to secure the title.
Banbury CC Innings – 129/8 (20 overs)
- Toby Brock once again stood tall for Banbury with a fighting 52 off 39 balls.
- Wolvercote’s disciplined bowling unit kept the scoring in check, with Tom Bratby returning 2/25 in 4 overs.
Wolvercote CC Innings – 132/3 (12.1 overs)
- Evan Cowley capped a brilliant day with a commanding 76 off 38 balls, smashing 12 fours and 2 sixes.
- Ollie Beard (22) and Tom Bratby (15 not out)* guided Wolvercote to victory with poise and maturity.
Wolvercote CC – Inaugural U15 Performance League Champions
Wolvercote CC lifted the Finals Day trophy with style, powered by Evan Cowley’s sensational batting and a disciplined team performance. Their unbeaten run showcased sharp fielding, clever bowling, and fearless batting — all hallmarks of a well-drilled side.
Wolvercote have now secured both the U15 County Cup and the U15 Performance League. What a fantastic achievement.
