The purpose of the Player Pathway is to constantly identify, develop and produce an oversupply of local, home-grown players, who can thrive in club cricket, represent the County Men and Women teams and progress into professional cricket, or beyond.
By delivering a single, clear and aligned talent development system the Player Pathway ensures that all players with the requisite potential have a clear route into the professional game and have the opportunity to be identified and developed within the Pathway. A long-term player development focus, and clear player vision enables the Player Pathway to align in producing exceptionally skilled, authentic cricketers who influence all formats of the game through outstanding performance across multi-disciplines.
The search for potential players of the future takes place each summer with Oxfordshire Cricket inviting Clubs, Schools, Coaches and Officials to nominate players who they believe demonstrate the current or future potential to represent Oxfordshire within County or Development Age Group Cricket.
It is from the Player Pathway Nominations, that players are invited to attend the 2019/2020 streaming process that begins in late September. Invited players may have the opportunity to progress through to further phases of the streaming process during the winter and early spring, with the goal of being selected to represent Oxfordshire within a County or Development squad for the 2020 summer playing programme.
Before completing the nominations process, please note that to qualify to play for Oxfordshire a player must ordinarily either have been born in Oxfordshire, play club cricket in Oxfordshire, go to school in Oxfordshire, or live in Oxfordshire. Please also note that players who have been selected within a County or Development squad in 2019 will be invited automatically and do not need nominating. For consideration for our Player Pathway, nominations MUST be received by Friday 2nd August 2019 by using the online form. Please submit one response for each player you are nominating, ensuring that all information is provided and correct, with the players’ parental consent.
